Trend Drop: Longer Length Tees

Long length men’s t-shirts have completely blown up this season. With the current explosion of street style influencing menswear fashion, the success of this trend is no surprise.

For some time the longer length silhouette has been a signature detail for high end and avante garde menswear designers including Acne, Rick Owens and Anne Demeulemeester. Their collections are recognised for slouchy oversized garments, styled with multiple layering details.

This look has only recently translated into street wear, where we see slightly more clean cut and wearable versions.

The long length tee has also been a huge hit among many celebrities and artists. Kanye West was one of the very first to set the trend early in 2013. Other celebrity followers include TOWIE’s Mario Falcone and X factor boy band Rough Copy.

Perhaps the vast appeal of this trend is due to its accessibility and versatility. You don’t have to be any particular size or shape to pull off the oversized tee, as the whole purpose of the style is for it to look exaggerated and baggy. If you’re wanting a truly oversized look, purchasing the next size up is recommended.
